Byron Coleman

EXPERIENCE IN THE INDUSTRY: 8 years working in youth services and disability services.

MY ABILITIES: I thrive on problem-solving and finding better ways to get things done. With heaps of patience, I understand people's needs and what makes them tick. On the side, you might spot me on a skateboard or bike, casually experimenting with music; I play in a band in my free time.

MY STORY: Embarking on a journey through various job experiences, I realised that I craved a deeper connection with people in our community.

Determined to satisfy my craving, I studied Community service work and started volunteering in not-for-profit Community Centres/Houses. I quickly discovered the profound joy of community connection with diverse individuals.

Simultaneously, life unfolded another layer as my child was diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder. This marked the beginning of an unexpected but profound journey into understanding and embracing neurodiversity, especially with a second child diagnosed with ASD and ADHD.

These personal experiences ignited a flame, fueling my passion for supporting and working alongside individuals with diverse abilities.

Today, I continue perfecting these ongoing learnings into working with people with disabilities as a community development worker and Support Worker.

Each interaction is an opportunity for growth, understanding, and creating a positive impact within the mosaic of our wonderfully diverse community.

Byron.
